Memorial Day!

What a great weekend. Memorial day is on tomorrow. That should give us time to have a photo shoot in the morning! Haley has been giggling like crazy in the mornings. We should be able to catch some of those, I hope! The past couple of days she has been a little fussy. I’m not sure why. Maybe she misses foot painting. A couple of weeks back she did a little painting with her feet. She had adult supervision of course. She ended up making some cards for her grandmothers. Haley’s so thoughtful already.
Tomorrow is a bit of a sad day. Volleyball season is over. The Green Purple Cobras will play as a team no longer. That’s probably for the better though. I think we won maybe 3 or 4 games out of the 21 that we played. Still, we all had a good time.
I made a ringlight for my flash this weekend. I’m hoping that it helps me take better up close candid pictures of Haley. I always have such a tough time with the shadows. This should help out. Not that anyone is interested, but I’m planning on posting some pictures of it soon. In my humble opinion, it is a pretty darn nice do-it-yourself job. Since I couldn’t talk the wifey into letting me spend 5 or 6 hundred bucks on one, I had to make do.
Hula Find a Cure

Last night Laura and I went to a Gala for the American Liver Foundation (ALF). It was a lot of fun. A bunch of people from work were there. Unfortunately, I’m dragging this morning. The release for the two big projects that I’m working on happened last night. Since they were really big, it was decided that they should be done on the weekend rather than mid week like releases are normally done. We’ve had a hiccup on one of the projects. Hopefully we’ll get through it in the next half hour. The good thing is, the hiccup isn’t on the stuff that we developed.
Other than the release and the gala, life is good. Real good. Haley’s giggling like crazy in the mornings when she wakes up. I love it. Sometimes Laura wants a little more sleep, but I wake Haley up anyway. She’s such a good girl. She’s been sleeping through the night for about a week now. Usually 8-9 hours! Its quite nice.
Shot Time

Haley just got her first shots this week. She took it like a big girl. She cried a little, but not very long. She’s so tough! She’s also started sleeping through the night. Out of the past 6 nights, she’s slept completely through the night 5 times. When I say through the night, I mean 8 1/2 to 9 hours each night. Not bad for 2 months!
Work’s been pretty crazy lately. I’ve got a couple of projects that are going live next weekend. So, next weekend should be a blast! I’ll probably be at the office nearly the whole time. We’ve got a bunch of folks scheduled to come in and do testing after the release. If all goes well, my life should slow down considerably. That will be good, since the weather is getting nice.
In fact, it is actually getting pretty hot now. I’ve noticed as I’ve been out working on the lawn. In years past, I’ve let the lawn slip. Work just kept me too busy to keep it up. Now I’m trying to get it back. Watering, fertilizing, poisoning. It will be nice soon.
We’ve also noticed the heat as we’ve been exercising.
I’ve started back hitting the punching bag lately. Don’t laugh too hard. It is VERY therapeutic. There’s nothing like punching something really hard. Laura and I have been running together some too. I’m really proud of her. I think she’s been running when I’m not around because she is really in shape. We’re both planning to run the firecracker 5k on the 4th of July. I would like to find a triathlon to do sometime this summer. If I don’t, it will be my first summer not to do one in 6 years.
Other than that, all is well. I’ve redesigned the website AGAIN. Hopefully this will be even easier to keep up to date. The last one had trouble loading. I’m not sure why. Anyway, we scrapped it and started using Flickr for hosting our photos. Flickr is really cool, in case you didn’t know. You may want to check it out. You can even print photos from there. You can even have them mailed to your house or pick them up at your local Target. Pretty cool!
Haley is Two Months!!
May 4, 2007 on 7:31 pm | In Haley | No CommentsMay 6, Haley turns two months old. I can not believe how big she is already. She now weighs 13 pounds and is solid baby. She’s got good arm and leg control and kicks her feet non-stop. She is smiling all the time and is starting to baby talk (cooing) regularly. She is on a great schedule and takes several naps a day. I got really excited because she lets me know when it’s nap time now by getting fussy…meaning our scheduling worked!! We are blessed with a good sleeper- she sleeps five hours at a time during the night and will go right back to sleep after eating. She is moving into size 2 diapers this week. I love being at home with Haley and we play (or clean) all day! My neighbor, Amy, has a 6 month old daughter and is a stay-at-home mom as well. We go on walks or hang out several times a week which is so nice!
The pictures we are posting will include pictures of Haley’s first trip to the beach! We had a blast meeting up with Amber, Dustin, and Carsyn (Amber was a sorority sister/roommate of mine in college). It was a short visit, but any time on the beach is awesome! Hayden was great to watch Haley while I laid in the sand listening to the waves crash. Haley did not like the wind or the cold ocean but I’m sure once she’s a little older we won’t be able to keep her off the beach. We spent the night in Brandon with Hayden’s parents on the way home. Again, another great visit even though it was short.
May will be a busy month. Kathleen and Julie are both graduating next weekend! We are so proud of them both. Kathleen is already off of school so I’m excited she’ll be able to come over more. As the paint all over her car says, she is MSU bound! Another Platten off to make their mark at Mississippi State. We are happy she chose State so we’ll be able to visit and see her on home game weekends during football season.
My grandparents and Aunt Lou are in town this weekend. I can’t wait for them to meet Haley! It gives me an excuse to dress her up, too.
Next week Haley will get her shots. I don’t know if it will be more tough on her or me when she gets them.
Well, it’s bath time so keep checking back for more updates!
