Fishing and Painting

Bill and Me Last weekend Bill and I finally took our fishing trip. We went to the White River in Arkansas to do a little trout fishing. We stayed in Calico Rock and we were taken care of by Jenkins’ Motel and Fishing. It was a LOT of fun. We didn’t catch a ton of fish because the water was high, but we had a blast. We caught enough to keep it interesting at least. While we were there we visited the Leatherwood Cafe and Don Quixote. Both were pretty good meals. The Jenkins folks really did take care of us. Nice people.

Painting WIP I’ve also been trying to paint the house over the past couple of weekends. I’ve been pretty busy so it has taken longer than I thought it would. We bought some really, really good paint. 5 gallons of it. Turns out that in covers like a dream. So well, in fact, that we barely used over a gallon. So now we have $200 worth of custom tinted paint that will most likely sit in the garage until we move. Apparently the paint calculator I used was WAY off.

Laura came up to see us this week. She just got back from a mission trip in Africa. She had a blast. My parents are coming up tomorrow. They’re going to stay for a day or so. We’re having all sorts of family in!

Jackson Weekend

The exit This past weekend we went to Jackson, MS for Christy and Stephen’s wedding. Stephen is Ryan’s (my brother in law’s) brother. We had a really good time. Christy’s dad did a lot of the ceremony. I’m assuming he is some sort of minister. He had some really good stories.

Haley was in attendance as well. This was her third wedding in three months. She didn’t do so well. She ended up having to be taken out right before the parents and grandparents came in. It was a close call. 5 minutes later and we’d have been taking her out during the bridal procession. Not good.

For dinner on Saturday night we ate at Huntington Grill for dinner to celebrate Laura’s birtday. It was quite the treat.

We also learned on Saturday that the Bulldogs are going to the college world series. They knocked down Clemson in 2 games to clinch the Series berth. They had record crowds in attendance in Starkville. In fact, even on Friday they had the largest crowd to ever be at any NCAA Super Regional. Impressive.

The main thing that has been consuming my time lately is painting the house. I’ve been working on it an hour or two most days this week. I pressure washed it on Sunday and have been scraping and re-caulking all the joints all week. I just finished today…finally. I’ll probably get nearly all of the painting done this weekend. We have a cookout to attend on Saturday and another one on Sunday. Also, I’ve got my first Father’s day coming up! Hopefully, though, I’ll get it all done except for the chimney. That is going to need some serious work. We’ve got a ‘touch’ of rotten wood up there so I’ll spend some time fixing that. I always get paranoid on the roof.

Birthday Time

Blow out the candle! Well, it is birthday time around here. My sister, Laura, is 26 today. Kathleen just had her 18th last week. And Haley is having her 1/4 year birthday today! We went over to Laura’s parents’ house last week to celebrate Kathleen’s birthday.

Not a whole heck of a lot is going on right now. We’ve been having people over a pretty good bit for dinners. That’s been a lot of fun. One cool thing that is going on is that Medco (Accredo‘s parent company) won an FEP (Federal Employee Program) deal. The press release was today. It will add about 4 million people who will get their mail order pharmacy benefits through Medco and Accredo. They are expecting to increase our current Rx load by about 11 million per year. We’re about to start hiring people like crazy and the projects that were scheduled to be completed in 2007 and 2008 are about to change dramatically. Medco actually had FEP and lost them to Caremark in 2004. We’ll get that business back starting in 2008.

Nearly Three Months!Outside of that, life is good. Laura and I have been excersising fairly frequently. I also just got done planning a fishing trip for my Father-in-Law and me to take in the next couple of weeks. We’re going to Calico Rock, which is on the White River in Arkansas. We’ll be fishing for trout for two days. It should be awesome. I went to the same place with a couple of frients a few months back and had an absolute blast. I can’t wait to go with him. Should be some pretty good bonding time.
