Time to Shave!
November 22, 2007 on 1:50 pm | In Haley, Hayden and Laura | No CommentsFall is in full swing and the colors outside are awesome. As we passed over the wolf river bridge a week or so back, the leaves and reflection off the water was stunning. I went back there and to Shelby Farms last Saturday morning to snag a few Fall pictures. Those are available in the Photography album on the photos page if you’re interested. They can’t be posted in the November album according to the wifey. She says those albums are for family and friends only. “No one wants to see pictures of random birds and stuff.” Yes, that was in quotes.
No Shave November is finally over. I know, I know…November is still here. However, No Shave November ran from 10/16 to 11/16. It was to benefit St. Jude. It was the first time I’ve ever grown facial hair. Laura seemed to like it. I didn’t figure she would. She actually had mixed emotions about shaving it.
All is going pretty well here in Simons land. We’ve all caught a little bug at some point or another. I’m the one with it right now. Nothing major, I just feel under the weather. Its unfortunate, becuase I need to be out running. I’m supposed to be running in the St. Jude half marathon in two weeks and my running has been next to nil due to work and darkness. Its tough to get up in the mornings and usually by the time I get off, the last thing I want to do is run. Luckily, work looks like it may be slowing down some. I really just hate the winter. I love the cold, but I hate the darkness. I seem to get lethargic when it gets dark early.
We took some pretty cute pictures of Haley the other day with a pumpkin. Unfortunately, also due to it getting dark so early, the only time we’ve had to take them lately was during lunch when the light is horrible. For taking them at noon, though, they turned out okay.
Football Fever!
November 13, 2007 on 10:16 am | In Hayden and Laura | No CommentsNot sure if I’ve mentioned it in the past, but at work we’re raising money for St. Jude by not shaving. We have to restrain from shaving until November 18th. Its right around the corner! For those that haven’t seen, there are some pictures below. I’m not sure if I like the facial hair or not. Laura seems to like it. I’m not sure why. I figured she’d be the first one to tell me to get rid of it. I’m thinking maybe I’ll keep the ‘stache. Who knows. So the Bulldogs are really coming around this year. I have no idea whether it is pure luck, whether we got much better this year, or whether we are just now showing how good we have been the past couple of years. The
Alabama game this past weekend was awesome. My parents came up for a couple days before the game. We had a lot of fun hanging out with them. I wish we got to see them more often. The game itself was awesome. I got some pretty good pictures. One really neat one of the field reflected in Haley’s eye. There were some awesome moments. I haven’t seen Scott field as alive as it was on Saturday in years. The crowd was going absolutely crazy. After the game, we hung out for a while at some tailgates. On the way back to Memphis, we stopped in Tupelo to see Papaw Ben. It was nice to spend some time with him.
Laura lost her voice at the game. She’s felt a little under the weather lately. She’s been taking NyQuil when she goes to bed, but she ran out last night. I got her some cough syrup that was prescribed to me a while back. About two hours after taking it, she was throwing up. I’d completely forgotten that she doesn’t do well with codeine and that cough syrup had codeine in it. Not pretty. She’s doing okay now, though. I guess I’m not the best doctor in the world.
Another month down!
November 3, 2007 on 1:01 pm | In Haley | No CommentsAnd another month has slipped by. October was a good one. A busy one. Haley had her first Halloween! She was a pumpkin. Normally, Laura and I deck the house out for Halloween. Complete with machines for bubbles and smoke and a 12 foot tall Shrek! Not this year, unfortunately.
I got sick right before Halloween. Really sick. We’re thinking it was food poisoning from IHop since it started for me and Laura about an hour after we both at the same thing there. Luckily, Laura got less of a dose of illness than I did, so she only spent about half the time I did hugging the beautiful toilet bowl in our bathroom. There were actually times when she was in the guest bath, I was in the master bath.
Shep had his annual pumpkin carving party. That was a blast again. Once again, we didn’t win any awards. Oh well, what can you do. The good thing about this year’s party was that Laura was there the whole time. Last year she had to miss about half the party because her Halloween costume for that year included perm. Those who were around definitely remember that one!
Haley also got to go to her first Halloween party! And I got a chance to take some photos of other people for once. I get pretty spoiled with Haley. She’s pretty used to sitting there and grinning without moving around a bunch. Other kids who haven’t had such a supermodel life haven’t mastered that skill yet.
