Christmas
December 28, 2008 on 4:40 am | In Haley, Hayden and Laura | No CommentsAnother Christmas has come and gone. What a great Christmas it was. Laura and I spent Christmas in St. Louis with her extended family this year. I think this is going to be the last year that we travel for Christmas. It is a tough decision to make, but one we have to make nonetheless. Laura and I both had family traditions growing up. I remember reading the Christmas story before we went to bed and laying in bed thinking about what Santa was going to bring. Usually, my sister and I would be up around midnight to see what Santa brought. More often than not, my parents would send us back to bed and explain that “Santa wasn’t done putting out gifts yet and that we’d interrupted him.”
Those Christmas memories still linger on today. While we love spending time with our families on Christmas, we’re afraid that without spending Christmas at home, our kids will miss out on those memories and traditions.
Haley had a blast this Christmas. She LOVED opening presents. Pretty soon, we’ll have two that will enjoy it! We found out on the 23rd that our next will be a BOY! It’s pretty exciting. Laura and I are both getting used to calling our new one by name and not calling him “bud”. Oh, how things will change in June.
Haley’s big gift from Santa this year was a play kitchen. She is loving it. She’s made popcorn in her new microwave. That consisted of taking popcorn from a tin and putting it in her microwave. What a site it was to come in and see a plastic microwave full of popped popcorn.
One of the gifts we got from my parents was a Vado. It’s basically a tiny camcorder about the size of a cell phone. The video quality isn’t spectacular, but it makes it really easy and convenient to take videos. There will be a LOT more videos posted on the website in the future. We’ve really enjoyed these couple of days off.
